U.P. 200 Sled Dog Races...

we made a thermos of hot chocolate and headed downtown last night to see the beginning of the U.P.200 sled dog race and we had a great time as usual. The temps were quite mild, so it was easier to get the kids out and see quite a bit. Although the mushers like it below zero because it's easier on the dogs and faster than when the snow is a little soft.

We had our small camera, however, the photo's above are the ONLY ones I got (well, Tim got the one of me...nice...can you tell I was a little bit mad) because the battery was almost dead. Ugh...of course I let Tim have it because he was the one who packed the camera! I reminded myself that it's the moment and the memories, not what I can record with my camera. Ok, that said...as we got further downtown with the white lights on the trees, the big starting gate, live tv6 broadcasting, very ready to race dogs, etc...there was so much excitement! Lots of fun.

Robert & Ryan's school adopt a musher and their assembly was Friday. They are always quite excited to get downtown to see all the dog teams and the beginning of the race. I just gave them an update (you can check out the U.P. 200 website) and their musher, Tasha Stielstra, from McMillan, Mich. is currently in 7th place. Last year Tasha took first! Hopefully, we'll get to lower harbor park to see some of the finishers tomorrow.

Hope everyone is having a nice President's Day Weekend!
