Friday night was the kick off for the 2007 Superior Bike Fest in downtown. We went down to J.J. Shamrock Irish Pub, also known as the Shamrock, (over 100 years old bar in downtown) for the last Happy Hour there ever. Kind of sad--Tim and I have had some good times there (and I have a few fond memories from my college days!) New owners taking over and making it into a steakhouse. In the summer, we'd sit on the balcony overlooking Lower Harbor Park (see a few photos above) and it was beautiful. It was a nice place to view the Superior Bike Fest races also. The collage above are a few shots from the balcony and some from in front of the Shamrock. The kids had a blast going in and out watching the racers and Kelsey had her cowbell ringing as loud as can be. Since then, I've hid the cowbell!
When we got home we made a fire in our little firebowl and we made s'mores.
Tim had to be up this morning for an event at the archery club. He just came home and picked up the boys and they are off to an air show at the old K.I. Sawyer AFB. Kelsey and I are going to head to the grocery store and I'm going to make a rhubarb pie later today. (Tim just called me and said he forgot his camera....he was so bummed!)
On another note, last week we had a hail storm and the kids and I were at Target. You wouldn't believe how LOUD it was. We went up to the front of the store so we could see outside a little--the kids had their hands over their ears and you couldn't hear anything except for the loud banging of ice/rain on the roof. It freaked me out a little. As soon as it stopped, we checked out and we drove home. The hail/ice was all over and it looked like it had snowed in many places because the hail was so thick. And, I can't believe I didn't once think about getting my camera out!!! Some of the hail was near golf-ball size! When I got home, we discovered a little bit of water in the basement, so the boys and I were working on that. I had the tv on and the boys were a little bit afraid because there was tornado warnings for a county nearby (never happened.) Anyway, on the local news, they showed a couple of local car dealerships and the damage that was done to cars in the lots. That's when I thought I should go and look at my van, since I was out that way near the dealerships. Yup, my hood, top and side of my van has a gazillion little dents all over. So, that is just a little of the experiences of the past couple of days....busy, busy, summer so far and we are loving it!
