Tim is off to trout camp. The kids are watching a movie and the rain is/was really coming down.
I'm sitting on the front porch with a book and drinking beer from a wine glass.
I took my hanging baskets down and put them on the front walkway so Mother Nature could water them.
I only have four tulips left that are blooming. All four are purple color. These three are purple & white and the other lone one is bright purple. So cool.
Our front screen door. In the winter it has a glass pane panel that we replace the screen panel with. This door has to be as old as the house (approximately 100 years old). I've wanted to replace this old door since we moved in 10 years ago. However, I truly love old things. I love the character old things bring to a home. I love to think of the history it has behind it...like how many little kids went in and out of this front door, how many friends went through this old door, how many thunder storms and winter storms it has been through, etc....Oh, if this old door could talk. And, now that I feel like I am becoming a little more greener and more eco-conscious, I really think (probably too much) about whether or not it really needs to be replaced with a new one.
Oh the things I think about while drinking beer from a wine glass on the front porch.
You can chime in...comment...should we replace this old door?

Quyanna for a beautiful blog. I am originally from Michigan and so enjoyed your photos and commentary. God bless, coffeetraps.
I don't know about the door. I think I'd be in the same conundrum as you. I noticed you're reading eat, pray, love. I really enjoyed that book! A beer and a light read sounds pretty good. Unfortunately these days its green tea and law books still. But California is great!! - Megan
If you replace the door, don't get rid of it. Maybe you can use it to create an arbor or other garden structure. I saw a similar door at a vineyard in CA wine country a few years ago. It was called "The Door to Nowhere". Not sure how your door would hold up in the garden during U.P. winters, though.
It's great that you still have some tulips. All I've got left is yellowing stems and leaves.
