Blah...

Snow on the pumpkin.

Snow coming down quite heavily.

Star enjoying the snow.

I do enjoy the change of seasons. As a matter of fact, the beginning of winter is always a favorite. I think the snow on the trees is beautiful and everything is white, clean looking and fresh. Although, today, I'm not really feeling the beauty. I call it the blahs or just having one of those days. The kind of days that I yell at my kids over too much and too little. The days that I worry excessively over things out of my control and some things in my control, too. The days that it's easy to get a lump in my throat over mere words or a memory, or when tears come with hardly any warning. It's the blah's. I know I'll get back to enjoying the simple things and experiencing joy again soon. Monday is always a good day to set new goals and to strive at being a better mom, wife, friend, sister, neighbor, employee, etc. I need to remind myself that God is always on my side and that he loves us all. I need to remind myself of the gratitude I feel and the little things that make life so worthwhile and joyful.
One week away and it's Thanksgiving. Although I love the holidays, this time of year can be hard for me (and I know, many others) because of the reminders of those I've lost. My Dad died right before Thanksgiving and my Mom died after Christmas. I still remember driving in the snow and the added stress of traveling on icy roads and blowing snowy conditions, this time of year, when I would go to visit them in the last days of their lives.
Don't mean to be a downer, just typing how I really feel today.
Now, I must roll up my sleeves, put on my snow boots, jacket, hat, gloves and get outside and shovel the driveway. Maybe that will help me with this major case of the blahs.
The ideals which have always shone before me and filled
me with joy of living are goodness, beauty and truth.
