Mardi Gras....

today we attended a kid's Mardi Gras Party at church, put on by the youth group. A fun time was had by all.

Friday night Tim and I attended the parish annual dinner/dance for couples. Fr. Jed always has a short mass/renewal blessing prior to the dance. The gym was all decked out in purple, green, masks, tinsel, a D.J., etc...reminiscent of a high school or middle school dance. Only we are married and we brought a cooler of booze! Tim packed Margarita's for me and Corona with lime for himself. I told him we could pretend we were in Cozumel or Cancun. Although, as soon as we stepped out the door, we had about 3 or 4 inches of fresh snow. My fantasy was over quickly! It sure is nice, however, to have a relaxing evening focusing on just "us"--that can get lost along the way, tending to the everyday busyness, children, family, work, commitments, etc., etc. We even did the "chicken" dance and the "hokey pokey!" Next year, I'll make sure to bring my camera to the dance.
