Adventure...that's what we live for here in the U.P. Grandma Glover is visiting from Grand Rapids and this weekend (Sunday) we went out to explore and see the ice caves in Eben. It was a beautiful sunny day. There is a BIG empty field you have to cross before you get to the woods where the paths are to the caves. The snow was hard enough to walk on in many areas in the field, but with the warm sun shining down on that field, there were times when some of us were sinking every three or four steps....Plop down we'd go. We were laughing so hard...it took us awhile before we got to the woods. I got some great photos and will post them onto another page. This blog will only take five photos at a time, so read on!
Once we got into the woods, there were spots that were very icey. None of us had the good traction on our boots to do the hike with a lot of grace! We even had to slide on our butts in one area down a hill. Grandma Glover was a real trooper and did the whole hike with a sense of humor and grace. Our friend, Ann, was with us and the pictures you see of the boys in the cave area are with her. She went with them right into the caves. In the caves, it was dripping wet and very slippery. She said the boys were just falling and sliding all over the place...."yee haaaa" they had a blast!!
