After two sons, the whole "girl" thing is a little different for me. Recently, Kelsey has been asking to wear dresses. She only has a couple and I always try to make sure there is one clean, so she can pick one out to wear if she chooses. Unlike the boys, she really likes to "pick" out her own clothes. For the past few weeks, almost every time she gets dressed, she asks "me pretty, mama?" And of course, I always tell her that she is indeed pretty. Lately though, I've been adding.."you are pretty Kelsey and so smart, funny and a good person!"
As a parent, I feel like I'm always learning as I go and I'm sure that I'll make plenty of mistakes along the way. One of my favorite quotes is "While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about." by Angela Schwindt.
I do know one thing though - being a girl and growing up to be a woman that feels solid about who she is can be hard. I don't know exactly what God has intended for you Kelsey, but being your Mom, if there is one thing that I can teach you, I hope it is to dig deep for who you are on the inside--because it is so much more
important than what is on the outside! Love you so much my Kelsey Girl!
