Planting, weeding & lots of water! That's what we did this weekend. Friday night Tim and the boys went fishing and Robert caught one fish -- Tim cleaned and cooked it and Robert gobbled it down (almost ate the tail!) Saturday, I went to visit my Mom while Tim and the kids went to Aunt Kathy & Opa's to rototill the garden. The boys already have their pumpkin seeds started inside. Kelsey got some bug bites, I'm still treating with Calamine lotion. Sunday we planted some annuals in the back gardens and I planted pots for the front porch. The small rock garden is dedicated just for the kids, so they had fun picking out flowers to fill in empty spaces. Ryan's favorite are the smiley flowers -- pansies! Kelsey liked the pink and green ones and Robert seemed to like the begonia's the best. We are all into the "garden" thing this year. They already look so full and beautiful. Our peonies already have big buds! We also planted some rhubarb on the side of the house. Hoping to make some rhubarb cake soon. Yesterday (Memorial Day) was filled with lots of water. The boys and Kelsey were in the sprinkler and slip-n-slide before noon. It kept them cool all day. We had friends stop by on and off and it was a very relaxing day--just trying to stay cool. I had a couple margharitas! And, I recall Tim opening a few Corona's throughout the day. We ended the day off with a nice grilled tenderloin, corn-on-the-cob, pasta salad, fruit salad, & ice cream! YUM-O. Of course, we promised the boys we'd have a fire so they could make smores. This morning, I asked Ryan what his favorite thing was over the weekend, and that is what he said..."the smores!"
This morning after dropping the boys off of school, Kelsey and I went for a bike ride....it was GREAT! Now, it looks like a thunder storm is going to be coming through. Thank goodness, it's cooling off. Well, now that was a long post, but a little of what's been going on in our world. Hope you all had a nice Memorial Day Weekend. We are so grateful to those who serve and those who have served this great country of ours!
