Saturday was the Ore to Shore bike race. Robert & Ryan each did the four-mile course (Junior Rock) which was pretty tough, according to them. Robert didn't have any technical difficulties this year, but he sure was tired and hot at the finish. He obviously didn't care too much about his time...because he came back with a tennis ball, a rock and a couple of small pine cones in his bike top pocket. I asked him where he got them and he told me that at one hill of the course where it was real woodsy and sandy he had to get off his bike to walk and he found the cool objects. I told Tim that I wonder if he even knew that it's a bike race. He did fine and had fun...that's what counts. Ryan came to the finish before him and was tired and hot also. He also was a little dirty from a fall. He knocked one of his baby teeth loose. All and all...a good time and I was just glad to see them coming around the end of the course to finish.
Maybe next year Kelsey will race in the Little Rock (one-mile course.) She didn't seem to be interested at all this year, but when we did get to the line up, she saw one of her little friends and she told me after that she wanted to race next year. She can do the Little Rock, the boys the Junior Rock, and maybe I'll do the 28-mile. Yah, we'll see.
One's destination
is never a place,
but a new way of
seeing things.
