Ramblings...

Each day in December the kids wake up to a little Hershey's Candy Cane candy in the advent tree and a little note from Santa's elf, Rudy. Now, the past few nights they have started to leave "Rudy" a snack and a handwritten note or two. They have all sorts of questions...first, what is his/her name? (Rudy), how old he is? (as old as the Christmas Spirit), how many elves are there? (to infinity and beyond), does he love anybody? (all of God's children). Robert has all the notes taped to a cupboard now in the kitchen. They are really having fun with this back and forth rapport. It's been fun counting down the days until Christmas. And, now with Rudy, hopefully some meaningful and fun dialogue. We didn't set out to do this. It was Robert who wanted to know more about the elf who was leaving the candy and notes. And, now it's turned into a whole note writing thing each night. Oh, and they also asked if they could please get a new dvd to watch before Christmas. Rudy said maybe in the next week or so if they continue to be good and listen to their parents. The past two years or so, we always left a new dvd or two (wrapped and hidden) so that they could watch them on the way to Grandma's house.

This is Kelsey telling me she wants to go to ski lessons in two minutes. Tim signed her up for lessons that begin in January...and I tell ya, she doesn't want to wait. She wants to go NOW.

As I try to advert her attention (while I try and get some things done around the house) she continues to play with Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus, ....and many other Little People. Although I didn't take a picture of all the little people because they are scattered ALL throughout the dining room right now with many, many other toys...ugh.

Take time today to "live well" and "love well" (can you tell I watched most of Oprah yesterday?")
