Lots of Fun...

This past weekend, we had the opportunity to go for a sailboat ride. Tim's Rotary Club worked with the Marquette Yacht Club and took some families out for a Saturday morning sail. It had rained in the night and early morning, but by the time we were out in the water, the darkness faded and the skies opened up to beautiful sunshine. The winds were pretty good for sailing. Tim and the boys were able to help our captain, Chad, jib the sails (steer) and learn a little about the boat. Robert got a little motion sickness after awhile, but he was fine. There were a few times when we were leaning so much in that boat, I thought my head was going to get wet by touching the water! Yikes. It was a great experience and we all thoroughly enjoyed it! Afterwards, we had a nice picnic lunch down by the dock. Following lunch the kids went with Aunt Kathy & Opa to the fair. Tim and I were on our own for a few hours, which was nice. When they got back, we went raspberry picking. Once home, I made two raspberry lemon shortbread tarts. YUMM! That is still my favorite summer dessert.

This was a little bird we spotted near the raspberry plants. It was a mama bird laying on her babies. Later when she flew away, we got to peek at the babies. I did take a photo, but it was blurry...I was in such a hurry, I didn't want to disturb the babies and make mama upset.
Then, we were on our way home and Tim spotted a painted turtle right in the middle of the road. The kids each got to hold it and were excited to let it go at a nearby pond. Fun weekend.
