A Girl and her Lobster...

this cute little lobster was a stuffed animal that Ryan and his classmates bought at school. Ryan's teacher has an in-class store that she uses as rewards for her first grade students. The kids each get a card and when they have exceptional listening and behavior skills, they get a punch on their card. Each week (I think) the kids get to pick out something from her store---items cost so many punches. Ryan has bought a medium sized teddy bear, a few little toys, etc. This week he brought home this Lobster! I believe it is Sebastian from the Little Mermaid. Which by the way, I gotta see that movie...because Kelsey talks about it all the time. Anyway, I said to Ryan, "Wow, you bought that...how many punches did it cost?(knowing that he likes to save many punches before he makes a purchase) he replied that he bought it with 16 other classmates. So, they take turns taking it home for the rest of the year. Kelsey really enjoyed playing with it. Ryan said she could play with it yesterday morning and I could bring it to school later in the day. What a nice brother! We returned it to the class and the kids were excited to see it and Kelsey! A little boy named, Harley gets to take it home next.

The whole reward system is such a great idea. I also like the idea of sharing a large purchase. Ryan gets lots of punches on his card and likes to save them for something special. A lesson I hope stays with him for life.

A dreary day. No sunshine. I have to send my camera in for repair.

Have a nice weekend. Posted by Picasa
