Joyful...Lunch Date...

most week days Kelsey is my one and only lunch date. She really loves her new seperated plate/tray and pink glass. She helped me with the scrambled eggs, which is one of her favorite foods. She gets so excited and it brings her so much joy when she can "help!"

We are all in the "getting ready" mode around here for company and Thanksgiving. Grandma Glover, Uncle Greg, Aunt Sue, Isabelle & Brody will be making the trip across the bridge. We are all excited. We even did a little Christmas decorating (which I don't usually do until after Thanksgiving.)

For some reason, this has been a particularly hard week for me emotionally. It was right around this time ten years ago when my Dad died. And, then I was so used to being able to pick up the phone and call my Mom ...well, needless to say, it's just been hard staying positive. However, even though this time of year can be stressful (good and bad) on people, I also know to find the joys in life and to be grateful...and I have so much to be grateful for. I have to remind myself that there is vulnerability in happiness. Happiness is based on circumstance (therefore, unhappiness is based on circumstance also.) And so we have to choose to find joy from within ourselves that is not vulnerable to circumstance. You see it all the time. Two different people, both faced with the same life tragedy and one of them chooses to let their circumstances defeat and define them while the other chooses to smile, chooses thankfulness...chooses joy.

A reminder for myself and a reminder for you (if needed) --choose joy. We will be counting many blessings tomorrow and having lots of fun with family. Here's hoping you and yours have a joyful Thanksgiving!
